Last Friday, Dutch actor Rutger Hauer passed away at his home. Now an actress who once co-starred with him has spoken up to honor his legacy and mourn his death.
Rutger Hauer, 75, was well-known for his role in Ridley Scott's 1982 film Blade Runner. His agent Steve Kenis shared that the actor died at his Dutch home after “a very short illness.”
A former costar in the film, Daryl Hannah, 58, has since spoken up in mourning the late actor. On Wednesday, she revealed that she had loved and respected Hauer.
She added: “I am heartbroken to learn he has left us. He was unpredictable, extremely human, inspired, electric and mesmerizing.”
"All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."
Hannah opened up about how "thrilling” it was “to work with him as an actor.” She continued explaining how much she had “admired his deep commitment as an activist, with his support of the important work of Sea Shepard” and other organizations who fought against AIDS.

The actress explained how Hauer’s "mad brand of poetic genius” had inspired her when she was a teenager. She looked up to him in movies like Soldier of Orange and Spetters.
However, what had the most impact from him were his “haunting words from 'Blade Runner' 'all these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.'"

The actor’s appeared together in the sci-fi thriller where Hauer played Harrison Ford's nemesis, Roy Batty. Hannah played Batty’s love interest, Pris.
The late actor also appeared on Batman Begins and Sin City. He was a Golden Globe award winner and his most recent movies included Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and The Sisters Brothers.
On television, he starred as Niall Brigant in True Blood and had a recurring role on the 2015 musical comedy Galavant. According to his website, one of his last wishes was that Starfish should continue its fight against AIDS with his wife’s help.
The actor was born on January 23, 1944, in Breukelen, the Netherlands, near Amsterdam. Both his parents were acting teachers but he took a while to let the acting bug get to him.
When he was 15 he ran away from home to join the Dutch merchant navy. In 1962, after returning to Amsterdam Hauer briefly studied acting and later found his true calling.
Hauer is survived by his second wife of 50 years, Ineke ten Cate and daughter Aysha Hauer; from his marriage to Heidi Merz.
