Kelly Ripa could not hold back her tears while sharing about her son’s school achievements despite his learning issues.
The television personality spoke candidly about her son, Joaquin’s, struggles in school in a segment of her show, “Live with Kelly and Ryan.”
“I see the way you handle your career, and most importantly family… and it’s so impressive.”
Joaquin has dyslexia, a disability that hinders learning in children. “School has always been a very big challenge for us in our household,” said Ripa, who shares three children with husband Mark Consuelos.
When she attended a parent-teacher conference in 2017 and was told that Joaquin received straight A’s, Ripa said she burst into tears of joy.
Joaquin didn’t tell his parents about his excellent grades right away because he wanted to surprise them. Aside from Joaquin, Ripa and her husband share Lola and Michael Joseph.
Ripa’s co-host, Ryan Seacrest, also teared up while listening to her. He praised her for the way she was able to balance motherhood and her career.
“I see the way you handle your career, and most importantly family… and it’s so impressive,” he said as he wiped away his tears.
Ripa has been public about her family, often sharing photos of herself, her husband and their children on her social media accounts.
Recently, Ripa shared a throwback picture that showed her striking resemblance to her daughter, Lola.
She stunned her fans with how much she looks like Lola, only with blonde hair. Since the photo was uploaded on Instagram, it amassed more than 121,000 likes. The image also gathered plenty of remarks with fans saying that Lola took after her famous mother.
In her younger days, Ripa portrayed Hayley Vaughan on the ABC daytime soap opera, "All My Children."
She also played Faith Fairfield on the ABC sitcom, “Hope & Faith,” from 2003 to 2006. For her influence as a television personality, Ripa was named one of the Most Powerful People in Media in 2014 by The Hollywood Reporter.
