Hollywood star Michael J. Fox, who is battling Parkinson’s disease since 1991, is rarely seen in public outings these days.

He was spotted in New York as he crossed the road, clutching a walking cane, in a loose-fitting hoodie, jeans, and a black jacket.

Fox kept his hood up and also wore glasses during the candid outing as he attempted to make himself as low-key as possible. He also had a female companion by his side.

The “Back to the Star” was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 29, but he has never wasted his time grieving over his condition.

In fact, he has remained active in helping other people suffering the same fate by trying to fund a cure for the disease through his Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Recently, the foundation’s effort got some result as a new medication for Parkinson’s was recently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration about a month ago.

Fox spoke with Bloomberg and highlighted the importance of the new medication. The drug called ‘Inbrija’ may not actually cure Parkinson’s but it greatly benefits the patients as a “rescue therapy.”

“It may not be there for me. But I’m absolutely sure we are on a path to answer the questions.”

The medication might not have come into existence had it not been backed up with money by Fox’s foundation. Fox contributed around $1.3 million to the cause between 2011 and 2013.

The final goal for Inbrija is to be able to cure the disease rather than just provide certain relief. But its development itself is certainly a huge milestone.

Fox has remained adamant that Parkinson’s is a curable disease and the foundation continues to seek that cure.

However, he also admits that the realistic timeframe for the development of the cure may be huge.

“It may not be there for me. But I’m absolutely sure we are on a path to answer the questions,” Fox explained to the source.

Fox's rare public appearance came only a few days after he got his first-ever tattoo. He shared on Instagram a snapshot of the tattoo, which had the image of a sea turtle swimming through the water.
