Megyn Kelly's NBC show was canceled just hours after her controversial remarks about blackface took the internet by storm.

According to People, multiple sources confirmed the news, with one saying: "They're contacting the staff and reassigning everyone today." The source added:

"Everyone’s being told that they still have a home here, but it won’t be on Megyn’s show."

No formal statement has been released as yet, and other sources remarked that even though her show is over, she wasn't fired.

The only explanation from NBC was that "Megan Kelly Today" will be on tape for the rest of the week, with the pre-recorded sessions replacing live broadcast.

Her controversial statement about blackface was made 48 hours ago, when Kelly, as part of an all-white panel, questioned if blackface is racist. She said:

“But what is racist? Because truly, you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface at Halloween or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid, that was okay as long as you were dressing up as like a character.”

Kelly's colleagues condemned her remarks almost immediately with Al Roker saying she owes viewers an apology and Graig Melvin saying Kelly was ignorant and racist.

This is not Kelly's first controversial stint. She infuriated fans earlier this year for being nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show.

Soon after the nomination was announced, a Twitter user named Carolyn Sue wanted to know "who paid off the Emmy Committee?" She added:

"[Meghyn Kelly's] show is painful. She is not a warm person."

Kelly made headlines once more when it was revealed that she gets paid between $15 million and $20 million annually.
